Still looking. Whatever it is, I couldn't find it in Catholicism. At least, I couldn't find it in Catholics. Sure there are exceptions to every group of people, but when does it get to a point where you have to wonder why the two-dimensional-thinking population at mass on Sunday tell me over and over that this action and that mindset is an exception? When does it ever no longer become an exception? I'm out. And yes, you may tell me that you will pray for me (in that self-righteous, condescending, exclusive tone). Not that I plan to go out and rebel and desecrate this or that, and I certainly don't ever plan to be disrespectful to the Church (or any religion or belief if I can help it). What I do plan to do, is find consistency. And be able to practice it in myself, and to be as consistent and as ethical as possible. I also plan to follow wherever logic leads me - maybe it will lead me back to the Church, maybe it won't. But in order to find out for myself, I have left the Church.

The Goo Goo Dolls - Better Days

..something only you can give
And that's faith and trust and peace while we're alive
The one poor child who saved this world
And there's 10 million more who probably could
If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them

So take these words
And sing out loud
'Cause everyone is forgiven now
'Cause tonight's the night the world begins again

I wish everyone was loved tonight
And somehow stop this endless fight
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

"If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn't love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God's secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn't love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn't love others, I would have gained nothing." -1 Corinthians 13:1-3
